Scuba A Recreational Activity
Scuba can be rightly called as an entertainment activity which can be enjoyed by all sorts of people regardless of their age. Such an activity is becoming popular all over the world especially in Florida (North America). This is because Florida has a tropical climate which favors scuba diving a lot.
What is scuba?
The acronym Scuba stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. The acronym is mostly used by the people for representing diving. People who wish to dive in the sea, lake or oceans may understand the uses of scuba to a greater extent. Wherever diving is possible, scuba plays an important role. The scuba is nothing but an apparatus used for breathing under water. The apparatus is created such that it consists of a cylinder which carries compressed air that helps aid breathing while diving under the sea. In addition to the cylinder, hoses are also present. Inhalation of air from the cylinder is possible with the help of hoses. The inhaled air after breathing is exhaled out into the water.
Variety of scuba diving units:
Three types of scuba diving units are available nowadays. They can be classified as open circuit, closed circuit and semi closed circuit. There are some major differences between these types of circuits. When we see in detail, we can understand that the open circuit scubas are used only for recreational activity where the inhaled air is exhaled out into the water. In closed circuit scuba gear, additional special devices are attached to the scuba which allows the exhaled air to be used once again by recycling the air. This is one of the major advantages of closed circuit scuba. Closed circuit finds its applications mostly in professional courses such as deep diving.
Using scuba, one can dive deep into the sea and stay there for periods of time but this is not possible using other diving apparatus, thus, scuba assists the divers to a greater extent and also protects them.
